Search in Knowledge Base
There are multiple ways to search for terms in the knowledge base.
Search By Product
You can narrow your search based on product.

In the search field, type a search term.

Select the Filter drop-down
and then choose a product.

Press ENTER or select the Search icon
.
→ Only articles on the specified topic and product display.
Full-Text Search
In the knowledge base, search results include these matches:

Case-insensitive Matches. Search is not case-sensitive.
Example: A search for the word print finds matches for Print and print. -
Matches with Variant Endings.
Example: A search for the word print also finds matches for words such as printer, printing, and prints. Since matches are not case-sensitive, the results include topics containing matches such as Printer, Printing, and Prints.
How to perform a Full-Text Search:

In the search field, type a word.

Press ENTER or select the Search icon

→ Only topics containing the search word are listed.
Phrase Search
You can search for phrases by enclosing your search terms in quotation marks. This is useful when you want to restrict a search to locate terms that appear in a specific order.
How to perform a Phrase Search:

In the search field, type a phrase or series of words.

Add quotation marks to the phrase.

Press ENTER or select the Search icon

→ Only topics containing the exact phrase are listed.
Partial Word Search
This search method is similar to simple Full-Text search, only it allows you to search for partial-words.
How to perform a Partial-Word Search:

In the search field, type part of a word.
-
Press ENTER or select the Search icon
.
→ Topics containing words that use the partial word are listed.
Search Modifiers
Search modifiers can be used in combination with search terms to increase or decrease the number of search results.
Search Modifier | Usage |
---|---|
AND |
Narrow the search and retrieve only the topics that contain all of the words it separates. Type AND between two or more terms. This modifier is not case sensitive. Example: Type material AND platform in the search field. Only articles that contain both material and platform display.
Tip: When separating terms with a blank space, the AND is always inferred.

OR |
Search for two or more words. This broadens the search results by retrieving topics that contain any of the words it separates. Type OR between two or more terms. This modifier is not case sensitive. Example: Type material OR platform in the search field. Only articles that contain either material or platform display.

NEAR |
Find topics that contain matches that are in close proximity to each other in the article. Important: This search modifier is case sensitive. NEAR must be capitalized.
Example: Type material NEAR platform in the search field. Only articles that contain material and platform in close proximity to each other display.

NOT |
Search only for matching topics that do not contain the term following the search modifier. This modifier is not case sensitive. Example: Type printer NOT material in the search field. Only articles that contain printer and do not contain material display.

To combine search modifiers and search terms, type parentheses ( ) around the combined terms. Example: Type material AND (platform OR buildplate) in the search field. Only articles that contain material and either platform or buildplate display.

Search Highlight
Search phrases are highlighted in the article when you search for terms and select an article on the search results page. The background for each term found in an article may be highlighted in a different color, especially when using Search Modifiers.
How to remove the search highlight from the article:

In the search field, type a word or phrase.

Press ENTER or select the Search icon
.

Select an article on the search results page.

Select the Search Highlight icon
.
→ The highlight is removed from the search phrases.
